Frome

We wandered around Frome yesterday and found an exhibition by Robert Golden. He had a number of black and white photographs that were taken in the 1970s and 980s, on a range of subjects based around industry and trades unions.
I bought a couple of books, one of the exhibition and one on still life.

Voigtlander 12mm

I recently got a 12mm lens for the Leica M8. Leica don't do a 12mm, so I went for the Voigtlander 12mm. It's not made quite as nicely as the Leica lenses (and I've only got the cheaper Summarits) but it still feels like a real old fashioned bit of camera kit.
On the M8 the lens performs like an 18mm due to the 1.5 crop factor.
It gives very nice wide angle shots, even with no coding on the lens.

John Heartfield

I've been reading about John Heartfield recently. He has some interesting and rather cutting photomontages.

I initially found him in Alan Piper's book and then also in an old RPS Journal from 1970 that I bought a while back.

Also some interesting work on the http://www.csm2009photography.com/ site.
